Murdoch editor joins press standards body
The editor of the News of the World, Phil Hall, is one of two new editorial members appointed to the Press Complaints Commission. The other is the editor of the magazine Good Housekeeping, Pat Roberts Cairns. One of the biggest papers in Rupert Murdoch's empire, the (Sunday) News of the World has a circulation of more than 4,000,000. There are five other editorial members, out of a total 16 members, who are responsible for ensuring newspapers follow the PCC's voluntary code of practice. The newcomers were welcomed by the chairman, Lord Wakeham.
