American Society of Newspaper Editors. The annual convention is to be held in Washington, April 9-12. In light of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the theme is Newspapers at a Critical Moment, and the key speakers include Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense. The society's president, Tim McGuire, editor of the StarTribune, Minneapolis, will address the state of the industry.
