UK national newspaper circulation (ABC)
Prelim to September 2001 figures (due out October). Unofficial results compiled by Press Gazette, September 21, say UK national papers sold an extra million copies in the week of the terrorism attack on New York. The broadsheets generally fared best, because of the impact of the large-scale pictures of the destruction of the twin towers of the WTC. The exception to this was the tabloid Daily Mail, which is believed to have sold an extra 266,000 a day.
